While psychological support is being provided to patients and healthcare workers, the general public's mental health requires significant attention as well. This systematic review aims to synthesize extant literature that reports on the effects of COVID-19 on psychological outcomes of the general population and its associated risk factors. Methods A systematic search was conducted on PubMed, Embase, Medline, Web of Science, and Scopus from inception to 17 May 2020 following the PRISMA guidelines. A manual search on Google Scholar was performed to identify additional relevant studies. Articles were selected based on the predetermined eligibility criteria. Results: Relatively high rates of symptoms of anxiety (6.33% to 50.9%), depression (14.6% to 48.3%), post-traumatic stress disorder (7% to 53.8%), psychological distress (34.43% to 38%), and stress (8.1% to 81.9%) are reported in the general population during the COVID-19 pandemic in China, Spain, Italy, Iran, the US, Turkey, Nepal, and Denmark. Risk factors associated with distress measures include female gender, younger age group (≤40 years), presence of chronic/psychiatric illnesses, unemployment, student status, and frequent exposure to social media/news concerning COVID-19. Limitations A significant degree of heterogeneity was noted across studies. Conclusions The COVID-19 pandemic is associated with highly significant levels of psychological distress that, in many cases, would meet the threshold for clinical relevance. Mitigating the hazardous effects of COVID-19 on mental health is an international public health priority.","source":"Semantic Scholar","year":2020,"language":"en","subjects":["Medicine"],"doi":"10.1016/j.jad.2020.08.001","url":"https://www.semanticscholar.org/paper/5671c31711cb1db7263dc6c1684123aa5bc3a1bb","pdf_url":"https://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pmc/articles/PMC7413844","is_open_access":true,"citations":4413,"published_at":"","score":94},{"id":"ss_e928b28b5ecd75ae092ea5d1694e4f26b79c6efa","title":"COVID-19 and mental health: A review of the existing literature","authors":[{"name":"R. In many applications, the key information required for downstream analysis is the number of reads mapping to each genomic feature, for example to each exon or each gene. The process of counting reads is called read summarization. Read summarization is required for a great variety of genomic analyses but has so far received relatively little attention in the literature. RESULTS We present featureCounts, a read summarization program suitable for counting reads generated from either RNA or genomic DNA sequencing experiments. featureCounts implements highly efficient chromosome hashing and feature blocking techniques. It is considerably faster than existing methods (by an order of magnitude for gene-level summarization) and requires far less computer memory. It works with either single or paired-end reads and provides a wide range of options appropriate for different sequencing applications. The search spanned from January 1996 to December 2022 using the following databases: Web of Science, Scopus, PubMed, APA PsychINFO, ScienceDirect, and ProQuest Dissertations and Theses Global. Our search identified 35 eligible studies for inclusion in the systematic review. Of these, 17 were included in the meta-analysis. The meta-analysis of the original 16-item version studies supported a three-dimensional representation of burnout with modest internal consistencies. However, similar to the narrative findings, it also indicated the viability of a two-factor solution. Consequently, the structural validity of the MBI-GS remains unclear, and so does its cross-cultural validity. The criterion validity of the cynicism and personal efficacy scales also raised a few questions. Overall, the findings provided some support for the adequacy of the measurement properties of the MBI-GS as a research tool measuring exhaustion, cynicism, and professional efficacy. However, we also identified challenges and practices of which researchers should be cognisant and that they should consider in future burnout projects.","source":"Semantic Scholar","year":2024,"language":"en","subjects":null,"doi":"10.1027/1015-5759/a000797","url":"https://www.semanticscholar.org/paper/598d48194e287caecbe2cf434c9d97f956dd4507","is_open_access":true,"citations":189,"published_at":"","score":73.67},{"id":"ss_ee828a0af0527445f39ac249929401a0bfea192b","title":"Factors affecting value co-creation through artificial intelligence in tourism: a general literature review","authors":[{"name":"Konstantinos Solakis"},{"name":"V. Domestic diplomacy and international legal science played a leading role in the formation of the institution of peaceful resolution of international disputes. It was Russia that initiated two Hague Peace Conferences in 1899 and 1907. However, this issue has not received sufficient attention from domestic and foreign researchers, the latter, however, actively studied the role of the United States, Great Britain, France and other countries in terms of the development of the institution of peaceful resolution of international disputes. In this regard, the study of the content and results of the Second Peace Conference and its historical significance seems relevant and scientifically significant. The purpose of the work is to identify the main directions and achievements of the Hague Peace Conference of 1907 in the context of the development of the institution of peaceful resolution of international disputes. Materials and methods. These objectives are achieved by analyzing the official materials of the 1907 Hague Peace Conference, official acts of the Russian Ministry of Foreign Affairs, assessments of the conference's achievements given by its participants themselves, as well as international treaties and scientific literature. Results. The work analyzes the work and results of the 1907 forum from the point of view of the development of the institution of peaceful resolution of international disputes. Conclu-sions. The study allows us to draw a conclusion about the special role of Russian diplomacy and international legal science in the codification of the institution of peaceful resolution of international disputes and the progressive development of international law in general.","source":"DOAJ","year":2025,"language":"","subjects":["Law","Sociology (General)"],"doi":"10.21685/2072-3016-2025-2-7","url":"","is_open_access":true,"published_at":"","score":69},{"id":"arxiv_2503.23249","title":"Context in object detection: a systematic literature review","authors":[{"name":"Mahtab Jamali"},{"name":"Paul Davidsson"},{"name":"Reza Khoshkangini"},{"name":"Martin Georg Ljungqvist"},{"name":"Radu-Casian Mihailescu"}],"abstract":"Context is an important factor in computer vision as it offers valuable information to clarify and analyze visual data. Utilizing the contextual information inherent in an image or a video can improve the precision and effectiveness of object detectors. For example, where recognizing an isolated object might be challenging, context information can improve comprehension of the scene. This study explores the impact of various context-based approaches to object detection. Initially, we investigate the role of context in object detection and survey it from several perspectives. We then review and discuss the most recent context-based object detection approaches and compare them. Finally, we conclude by addressing research questions and identifying gaps for further studies. More than 265 publications are included in this survey, covering different aspects of context in different categories of object detection, including general object detection, video object detection, small object detection, camouflaged object detection, zero-shot, one-shot, and few-shot object detection. This literature review presents a comprehensive overview of the latest advancements in context-based object detection, providing valuable contributions such as a thorough understanding of contextual information and effective methods for integrating various context types into object detection, thus benefiting researchers.","source":"arXiv","year":2025,"language":"en","subjects":["cs.CV"],"doi":"10.1007/s10462-025-11186-x","url":"https://arxiv.org/abs/2503.23249","pdf_url":"https://arxiv.org/pdf/2503.23249","is_open_access":true,"published_at":"2025-03-29T23:21:28Z","score":69},{"id":"arxiv_2501.19323","title":"Trust and Trustworthiness from Human-Centered Perspective in HRI -- A Systematic Literature Review","authors":[{"name":"Debora Firmino de Souza"},{"name":"Sonia Sousa"},{"name":"Kadri Kristjuhan-Ling"},{"name":"Olga Dunajeva"},{"name":"Mare Roosileht"},{"name":"Avar Pentel"},{"name":"Mati Mõttus"},{"name":"Mustafa Can Özdemir"},{"name":"Žanna Gratšjova"}],"abstract":"The Industry 5.0 transition highlights EU efforts to design intelligent devices that can work alongside humans to enhance human capabilities, and such vision aligns with user preferences and needs to feel safe while collaborating with such systems take priority. This demands a human-centric research vision and requires a societal and educational shift in how we perceive technological advancements. To better understand this perspective, we conducted a systematic literature review focusing on understanding how trust and trustworthiness can be key aspects of supporting this move towards Industry 5.0. This review aims to overview the most common methodologies and measurements and collect insights about barriers and facilitators for fostering trustworthy HRI. After a rigorous quality assessment following the Systematic Reviews and Meta-Analyses guidelines, using rigorous inclusion criteria and screening by at least two reviewers, 34 articles were included in the review. The findings underscores the significance of trust and safety as foundational elements for promoting secure and trustworthy human-machine cooperation. Confirm that almost 30% of the revised articles do not present a definition of trust, which can be problematic as this lack of conceptual clarity can undermine research efforts in addressing this problem from a central perspective. It highlights that the choice of domain and area of application should influence the choice of methods and approaches to fostering trust in HRI, as those choices can significantly affect user preferences and their perceptions and assessment of robot capabilities. Additionally, this lack of conceptual clarity can be a potential barrier to fostering trust in HRI and explains the sometimes contradictory findings or choice of methods and instruments used to investigate trust in robots and other autonomous systems in the literature.","source":"arXiv","year":2025,"language":"en","subjects":["cs.HC"],"doi":"10.3390/electronics14081557","url":"https://arxiv.org/abs/2501.19323","pdf_url":"https://arxiv.org/pdf/2501.19323","is_open_access":true,"published_at":"2025-01-31T17:19:11Z","score":69},{"id":"doaj_10.3390/diagnostics14030318","title":"Pathological Findings in Hanging: Is the Traditional Knowledge Correct?","authors":[{"name":"Graziano Domenico Luigi Crudele"},{"name":"Alberto Amadasi"},{"name":"Lorenzo Franceschetti"},{"name":"Cristina Cattaneo"}],"abstract":"Background: In forensic pathology, asphyxia presents a problem as frequently as it is thorny and challenging. Some knowledge in forensic pathology is still considered to be traditionally acquired and is not critically assessed with modern statistical or technical tools. In this study, we seek to examine the injuries that are considered to be typical of cases of hanging (neck lesions, haemorrhages, and pleural and epicardial petechiae). Methods: We evaluated whether there was, indeed, a statistically significant association between these injuries and deaths from hanging as compared to non-hanging deaths. We collected 399 cases (32 deaths by hanging and 367 cases of non-hangings), built contingency tables and performed chi-square tests for each variable (lesion) examined; we also analysed this association in various subgroups of the sample (according to sex, age and weight ranges). The ever-increasing number of research articles provides a huge challenge for manual literature review. It has resulted in an increased demand for automation. Developing a system capable of automatically generating the literature reviews from only the PDF files as input is the primary objective of this research work. The effectiveness of several Natural Language Processing (NLP) strategies, such as the frequency-based method (spaCy), the transformer model (Simple T5), and retrieval-augmented generation (RAG) with Large Language Model (GPT-3.5-turbo), is evaluated to meet the primary objective. The SciTLDR dataset is chosen for this research experiment and three distinct techniques are utilized to implement three different systems for auto-generating the literature reviews. The ROUGE scores are used for the evaluation of all three systems. Based on the evaluation, the Large Language Model GPT-3.5-turbo achieved the highest ROUGE-1 score, 0.364. The transformer model comes in second place and spaCy is at the last position. Finally, a graphical user interface is created for the best system based on the large language model.","source":"arXiv","year":2024,"language":"en","subjects":["cs.CL","cs.AI","cs.IR","cs.LG"],"url":"https://arxiv.org/abs/2411.18583","pdf_url":"https://arxiv.org/pdf/2411.18583","is_open_access":true,"published_at":"2024-11-27T18:27:07Z","score":68},{"id":"doaj_10.36317/kaj/2023/v1.i57.12324","title":"رمزية المكان (الطلل) في شعر حسام الدين الحاجري  ","authors":[{"name":"محمد المهداوي "},{"name":"صادق محمد "}],"abstract":"\nتعد الرموز من التقانات المهمة  التي تثير فضول المتلقي وتزيد رغبته في الوصول الى قصد الشاعر ، والكشف عن دلالاتها القارة داخل نتاجه الشعري ، فديناميكية الرمز تكفل ولوج القارئ الى عمق النص ، فعمل القارئ يصبح فضاء لقراءات متعددة ، ذات الدلالة البعيدة عن الواقع المذكور ، إذ ان الرمز المكاني في النص الأدبي أداة فاعلة في كشف الخبايا النصية المفروزة من دلالاته في بعده المعبر عن البوح المكنون في أهواء الشاعر المكبوتة في دواخلها والمنطوية على ذاتها ، لذا فان اختيار هذا الموضوع يعد محاولة لتسليط الضوء على تلك الرموز وبخاصة الطللية منها ، وإظهار أهميتها في شعر حسام الدين الحاجري ، وما دامت الرموز متعلقة بالقارئ أكثر من ارتباطها بالنص ، لذا وجب على القارئ تفكيك تلك الرموز ، فهذا البحث قائم على رصدها والكشف عن مكنوناتها وبخاصة الرموز (الطللية) بوصفها مكانا محملا بأبعاد وايحاءات كثيرة .\n","source":"DOAJ","year":2023,"language":"","subjects":["History of scholarship and learning. Despite recent targeted drug approvals, prognosis of acute myeloid leukemia (AML) patients needs to be greatly improved, as relapse and refractory disease are still difficult to manage. Thus, new therapeutic approaches are needed. Based on in silico-generated preliminary data and the literature, the role of the prolactin (PRL)-mediated signaling was interrogated in AML. Methods Protein expression and cell viability were determined by flow cytometry. Repopulation capacity was studied in murine xenotransplantation assays. Gene expression was measured by qPCR and luciferase-reporters. SA-β-Gal staining was used as a senescence marker. Results The prolactin receptor (PRLR) was upregulated in AML cells, as compared to their healthy counterpart. The genetic and molecular inhibition of this receptor reduced the colony-forming potential. Disruption of the PRLR signaling, either using a mutant PRL or a dominant-negative isoform of PRLR, reduced the leukemia burden in vivo, in xenotransplantation assays. The expression levels of PRLR directly correlated with resistance to cytarabine. Indeed, acquired cytarabine resistance was accompanied with the induction of PRLR surface expression. The signaling associated to PRLR in AML was mainly mediated by Stat5, in contrast to the residual function of Stat3. In concordance, Stat5 mRNA was significantly overexpressed at mRNA levels in relapse AML samples. A senescence-like phenotype, measured by SA-β-gal staining, was induced upon enforced expression of PRLR in AML cells, partially dependent on ATR. Similar to the previously described chemoresistance-induced senescence in AML, no cell cycle arrest was observed. Additionally, the therapeutic potential of PRLR in AML was genetically validated. Conclusions These results support the role of PRLR as a therapeutic target for AML and the further development of drug discovery programs searching for specific PRLR inhibitors.","source":"DOAJ","year":2023,"language":"","subjects":["Neoplasms. The main findings from our review are the following: there is robust empirical evidence that larger and more developed countries are more likely to adopt the IT regime; the introduction of this regime is conditional on previous disinflation, greater exchange rate flexibility, central bank independence, and higher level of financial development; the empirical evidence has failed to provide convincing evidence that IT itself may serve as an effective tool for stabilizing inflation expectations and for reducing inflation persistence; the empirical research focused on advanced economies has failed to provide convincing evidence on the beneficial effects of IT on inflation performance, while there is some evidence that the gains from the IT regime may have been more prevalent in the emerging market economies; there is not convincing evidence that IT is associated with either higher output growth or lower output variability; the empirical research suggests that IT may have differential effects on exchange-rate volatility in advanced economies versus EMEs; although the empirical evidence on the impact of IT on fiscal policy is quite limited, it supports the idea that IT indeed improves fiscal discipline; the empirical support to the proposition that IT is associated with lower disinflation costs seems to be rather weak. Therefore, the accumulated empirical literature implies that IT does not produce superior macroeconomic benefits in comparison with the alternative monetary strategies or, at most, they are quite modest.","source":"arXiv","year":2023,"language":"en","subjects":["econ.GN"],"url":"https://arxiv.org/abs/2305.17474","pdf_url":"https://arxiv.org/pdf/2305.17474","is_open_access":true,"published_at":"2023-05-27T13:26:15Z","score":67},{"id":"ss_4fc26d5dddf0fe7e2091532de86880bfa576fd0d","title":"JOB BURNOUT: A GENERAL LITERATURE REVIEW","authors":[{"name":"Tareq Lubbadeh"}],"abstract":"Job Burnout is different work-related stress syndrome portrayed by three-dimension Emotional Exhaustion, Professional inefficacy, and Cynicism. Earlier burnout research has centered on the human service professions such as nursing and teaching, where they are assumed to be the most exposed to experience burnout. However, Burnout is not confined only to social service professions but spreads to other working professions such as banking employees and managers. This paper traces the evolution of Job Burnout. It addresses the factors and the Outgrowths of job burnout and the intervention strategies to decrease or overcome it. It also presents the primary measurement of Job Burnout, the Maslach Burnout Inventory (MBI), the Burnout Measure (BM), and the Oldenburg Burnout Inventory (OLBI). Lastly, the paper closes with a brief conclusion.","source":"Semantic Scholar","year":2020,"language":"en","subjects":["Psychology"],"doi":"10.32479/irmm.9398","url":"https://www.semanticscholar.org/paper/4fc26d5dddf0fe7e2091532de86880bfa576fd0d","pdf_url":"https://econjournals.com/index.php/irmm/article/download/9398/pdf","is_open_access":true,"citations":99,"published_at":"","score":66.97},{"id":"ss_aa35be90b97349a4f916a7e79b457131daeff502","title":"A practical guide to data analysis in general literature reviews","authors":[{"name":"R. While there are many guides to doing literature searches and evaluating article quality, there are to our knowledge no published detailed guides of how to do the actual data analysis in such general literature reviews, particularly that are applicable to students. This article seeks to describe a systematic method of data analysis appropriate for undergraduate research theses, where the data consists of the results from available published research. We present a step-by-step guide with authentic examples and practical tips.","source":"Semantic Scholar","year":2021,"language":"en","subjects":["Psychology"],"doi":"10.1177/2057158521991949","url":"https://www.semanticscholar.org/paper/aa35be90b97349a4f916a7e79b457131daeff502","pdf_url":"https://journals.sagepub.com/doi/pdf/10.1177/2057158521991949","is_open_access":true,"citations":57,"published_at":"","score":66.71000000000001}],"total":12421583,"page":1,"page_size":20,"sources":["DOAJ","arXiv","Semantic Scholar"],"query":"Literature (General)"}
