They characterize the milestones of the Institute since its establishment in 1950s and emphasize the role of Gersh Budker and his unique scholarly school. The authors focus on the principles of managing the Institute, its Academic Board’s democratic traditions, integration of experimental production and applied projects, and staff training. The RAS SB INP Library contributes to the preservation of scholarly legacy, builds its biobibliographical resources related to G. I. Budker, A. N. Skrinsky, E. P. Kruglyakov, B. V. Chirikov and L. M. Barkov. These resources comprise bibliographies, photo galleries, archival materials and publications, which contributes to the studies of science history and promotion of the Institute. The authors also discuss the current projects of the Library, e.g. the biographic gallery of prominent Institute researchers, information resource of the Great Patriotic War (WWII) veterans. It is important to keep the memory of scientists’ and specialists’ contributions to the fundamental and applied science. The authors demonstrate that the RAS SB INP traditions are balanced with the innovations, for example participation in international projects (e.g. the Large Hadron Collider) and new study fields like boron neutron capture therapy and building synchrotron radiation source SKIF. Editorial Board Interlocking (EBI) phenomenon reflects the effectiveness and importance of the scholarly journal's editorial boards in various scientific fields. The primary purpose of this paper is to conduct a Social Network Analysis (SNA) of EBI phenomena from the perspective of astronomy and astrophysics journals. The present study is applied research based on EBI, SNA, and the descriptive-analytical approach. The statistical population of this study consists of the editorial board members of all journals of astronomy and astrophysics indexed in the JCR and official journal websites. There are 1597 job positions in 67 astronomy and astrophysics journals occupied by the 1394 scholars. Data analysis shows EBI for 95 scholars and 79 organizations. \"Aleksei A. Starobinsky\" from Russia and the Russian Academy of Sciences, \"Daniel J. Scheeres\" from the United States, and the University of Colorado Boulder have the highest EBI contributions in five journals. \"Daniel J. Scheeres,\" with a centrality of 39, has the highest degree of centrality measurement among the EBMs. The presence of more than five times as many men as women indicates that astronomy and astrophysics journals are considered \"masculine\" by the editorial board. The EBI phenomenon is observed in astronomy and astrophysics journals due to the limited number of peop le eligible for the editorial board. Due to EBI, a limited number of famous scholars are made macro-policies such as publishing the articles, referees selections, and the reviewing process. Astronomy and astrophysics journals have \"elite\" academic networks. Gender inequality exists among EBMs, and the majority of them are male. Accordingly, these journals are \"men's journals.\"","source":"DOAJ","year":2023,"language":"","subjects":["Information resources (General)","Transportation and communications"],"doi":"10.22034/ijism.2022.1977746.0","url":"https://ijism.ricest.ac.ir/article_700756_9208d514293adf1eaa17de5955477120.pdf","pdf_url":"https://ijism.ricest.ac.ir/article_700756_9208d514293adf1eaa17de5955477120.pdf","is_open_access":true,"published_at":"","score":67},{"id":"doaj_10.15388/Knygotyra.2023.80.133","title":"Commemorating Anniversaries of the Life and Work of Francysk Skaryna in Lithuania from the Viewpoint of Book Studies and Scholarly Communication","authors":[{"name":"Aušra Navickienė"}],"abstract":"The aim of this article is to reconstruct the history of how anniversaries of Francysk Skaryna’s life and work were commemorated in the Lithuanian academic environment. Survey research design was deployed, while quantitative research method was adopted using questionnaire for data gathering. The population of the study was nine hundred and fourteen (914), where a sample size of two hundred and seventy-eight (278) was determined using Research Advisors Table. Questionnaire was administered on the sample size and the data gathered were analyzed using descriptive statistics. The findings discovered that eLibrary is available with functional twenty (20) All-in-One Computer Workstations. It was revealed that OPAC, EbiscoHost, Research4Life, ScienceDirect, and e-resources (textbooks and journals) on Nursing, Law, Medical Laboratory Science, and Public Health are available. Few e-resources for all other twelve programmes in the university are also available in the eLibrary. Findings discovered that, e-references, CD-ROM, e-bibliography and e-archives were not available. It was also discovered that the available electronic information resources, though, accessible, but were not sufficientfor adequate use by the respondents. Considerably, majority of the respondents have a positive perception of electronic information resources and services. The study recommended that there should be acquisition of more data bases in addition to those in use, as well as, subscription to more e-resources, especially books and journals, which will cut across all the twelve programmes in the university. This will improve patronage and satisfaction of the patrons in order to justify the huge amount invested in the project. the use of electronic information resources in the Fountain University Library. The findings revealed that e-journal, e-database, e-book and internet are utilized daily, weekly and occasionally than other e-resources. Result further showed a low usage of OPAC, e-dictionary and CD-ROM. Overall, the usage level of electronic information resources by undergraduate students can be rated average. Low use of CD-ROMs, OPAC and e-dictionary may as well be attributed to advancement in technology and proliferation of Internet access with the use of mobile phone, modem and router among library users. The library and information sphere, including library, bibliographic and scientific information activities and the scientific disciplines that study them needs (library and information sciences) it as well. These areas are characterized by the proximity and significant concurrency of goals, objects, processes, methods, and results of activities. At present, their further integration, transformation of traditional libraries (first of all, scientific ones) into library and information centers is underway. The bibliography of library and information science and practice includes: 1) bibliography of literature on history, theory, methodology, organization, methodology and technology of these activities, 2) bibliography of publications and electronic resources of library and information institutions; for bibliography as such bibliography of bibliography is also of particular importance, 3) bio-bibliography of branch leaders (polybiobibliographic and monobibiographic (personal) resources).Since the 1940s the Russian State Library is the main center of the current bibliographic registration of literature on librarianship and bibliography (until 2015 – the release of current indexes, since 1989 – the formation of a thematic abstract bibliographic database). There are given some examples of its search fragments and navigation capabilities. Using statistical data, the author analyses the resorce access dynamics, user requests and the geography of user access to the database. The access leaders among the eight regions of the Russian Federation are Ural, Northwestern and Siberian Federal Districts. There is a stable interest observed in Siberian, Volga and Central Districts. The rating of the most popular search terms is made. The results of the study confirm the demand for the online resource among users.
