Paradigms, Methodologies, and Rigor in Qualitative Research
Abstrak
The choices made during a research process provide a basis for the rigor of the research depending on the paradigm and the methodology adopted by the researchers. This article aims to guide qualitative researchers who need to draw their path among many alternative decisions that may be in philosophical fit or incommensurable conflict. Therefore, the article discusses paradigms and various qualitative methodologies forming the basis of their qualitative research. The discussion includes several criteria and approaches to improve the rigor and quality of a qualitative research project, including trustworthiness, triangulation, and reflexivity.
