Giuliana Benvenuti Sara Obbiso Riccardo Stracuzzi

Abstrak

This article examines the textual composition of several landscape descriptions in Canne al vento (1913), framing the analysis within a broader interpretive framework, concerning the structures and functions of description in narrative texts. By focusing on the recurring motif of the ‘ruined castle,’ which appears multiple times in Canne al vento as well as in other works by Grazia Deledda – both narrative and non-narrative, – the study proceeds to reflect on seminal elements of of the writer’s position within the literary and editorial context of the decades spanning the late 19th and the first thirty years of the 20th century.
