Falk Richter, pour un théâtre maniériste ?
Abstrak
If “the image disrupts history” (G. Didi-Huberman), Falk Richter’s theatre seeks in its very material — i.e. the flux of our mediatized reality-data (photography, film, television, internet posts, advertisements) — the (political) disruption of our time and age. Montage, “dysposition” and dissemination are the main tools he uses to draw a reflexive and critical dimension out of these “pictures”. In the three productions analyzed in this article, Falk Richter displays the intermedial history of modern and postmodern theatre and renders our mediated mock-reality through Mannerism. Deceptive and hyperrealistic aesthetics, associated to the “in the face” school of political theatre force the spectator to acknowledge Richter’s own standing point, its history and (artistic, social, political) meaning.
