La fantasy hispano-américaine

Abstrak

Based on the observation that there is a lack of French criticism of Hispano-American fantasy, this article offers an overview of the various trends, before analyzing the genre from an ecocritical angle: what makes it special is perhaps to be found in the complex relationship between the genre’s western-centric codes and the characteristics of South America. The example of Argentina’s Liliana Bodoc’s trilogy La Saga de los Confines will enable us to examine the genre’s compatibility with the environmental and historical issues specific to the region.
