“Secundum rubricam romanam”: Reform Liturgy of Subiaco-Melk

Robert Klugseder

Abstrak

The “Melk Reform” refers to the revival of the Benedictine order in southern Germany and Austria which had Melk as its centre, and came about as a result of the Council of Constance (1414–1418). The reform statutes emphasize strict adherence to the rules of the order, monastic discipline and liturgical renovation. The “Melk Reform chant” represents a variant of the Roman Franciscan chant tradition.
