Design for the Enhancement and Reactivation Small-Walled Towns.
Abstrak
Territories located in inland areas, marked by natural or artificial fortifications, are often the focus of attention because, despite their immense cultural, historical, and natural heritage, they are frequently in a state of abandonment and depopulation. There are many disciplinary fields involved in the reactivation, regeneration and enhancement of these areas. Specifically, this research aims to investigate, map and analyze case studies in which design has played an active role in these types of contexts. 150 case studies, from 28 countries, were collected and catalogued; the data were then processed and made usable through data visualizations. A summary framework finally identifies the three main categories in which design-driven actions have fostered the reactivation of these places.
