Navigating Academic Research as a Neurodivergent Individual: Insights, Challenges, and a Call to Action
Abstrak
Completing a Master’s or Doctorate is a significant academic undertaking. Navigating it with the added complexity of neurodivergent traits presents distinct challenges. This autoethnographic study, underpinned by reflexive thematic exploration of the literature, draws on the authors’ lived experiences of completing doctoral research with dyslexia, dyspraxia, dysgraphia, and ADHD. It shares insights and strategies that supported their success, contributing to growing calls for inclusivity and understanding in academia. The authors highlight the valuable contributions neurodivergent individuals make to advancing theory and practice and issue a call to action for coach-specific research better to support neurodivergent researchers, practitioners, and clients.
