Proposal for a Liberal Arts Course on AI and Bioethics : A Narrative Approach
Abstrak
This study aims to propose the content and teaching-learning methods for a liberal arts course titled AI and Bioethics, with a focus on the narrative approach. The research addresses two main questions: (1) What topics should be included in the curriculum for an AI and bioethics course? (2) How should the teaching-learning process for AI bioethics be structured? The findings suggest that the course content can be structured into five educational modules: (1) Theoretical foundations of AI bioethics, (2) Ethical issues in AI-based biomedicine, (3) Ethical issues in AI-based biotechnology, (4) The role of AI in human subject research and research ethics, (5) Laws and regulations related to AI bioethics. Additionally, the teaching-learning process can be designed in five stages: (1) Deliberation on relationships and contexts, (2) Deliberation on ethical principles, (3) Deliberation on emotions, (4) Deliberation on the continuity of ultimate responsibility and public accountability, (5) Deliberation involving peer feedback and self-reflection on the final decision.By linking bioethical dilemmas encountered in the AI era with real-world clinical experiences, this educational approach can effectively foster ethical reasoning, moral sensitivity, and the ability to make ethical decisions in practical contexts.
