Invariant manifolds and the interplanetary superhighway

Abstrak

AbstractWe propose a different model to study the Solar System by considering it as a series of Three Body Problems (Sun‐Planet‐Infinitesimal Body). The invariant manifolds of each Three Body System intersect in space to provide a transport mechanism spanning the entire Solar System which is popularly called the “Interplanetary Superhighway”. This concept is useful for designing space missions and for understanding the motions of minor bodies in the Solar System. (© 2008 WILEY‐VCH Verlag GmbH & Co. KGaA, Weinheim)
